It has been a busy February for our clubs, sports, and students and staff. We are eager for spring to arrive. Our students shared some of their groundhog stories in this newsletter. Young people and adults have braved the cold to skate on our rink. My new skates are still sitting in a box in my office. I hope to get out there when the temps aren't frigid.

Many of you attended our Adirondack Paradox presentation to learn about our efforts to understand and advocate for funding from New York State. We will hold another presentation on March 12 at 7 pm in the Northville CSD Library. You can attend in person or virtually using this link.

In a few days, you will receive an important letter via "snail mail." We wanted to make sure that everyone in the Northville Central School District understands the school district budget well before the budget brochure goes out in April. I am sharing a link to the letter here. There is a QR Code on the letter if you would like to listen to it. Our efforts have been recognized by the New York School Boards Association. THE OLYMPICS

When Mrs. Reidell was in 2nd grade, she carried the torch in our village! You can see even a little of the blue bridge. Mrs. Reidell shared, "It was an exciting time in our village. I wish I were a little older so I could appreciate it more. My actual first visit to Lake Placid wasn't until 30 years later."

Mr. Clapper's students learned about the curling and ski jumping competitions, and I had the opportunity to try both with the students' help! I did not win a medal!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR GIRLS AND BOYS BASKETBALL TEAMS!

Our Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball teams both made it to the sectionals. See the Brackets here.

We will be holding watch parties in the school library: 

• Boys Game - March 3rd, 5:00 pm (If they win this game,  Watch Party, Friday, March 6th, 5 pm)
• Girls Game - Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 am

NORDIC SKI TEAM - Mrs. Thomarie

The girls did a great job at states- I was impressed! In Nordic, we do not divide by class, so within our section, 2 M-N competes with Shenendehowa, Guilderland, Scotia-Glenville, Saratoga Springs, Lake George, Glens Falls, Queensbury, etc, and our girls held their own! The top 12 from our section competed in the state championship at Bristol Mt. in Canandaigua, NY.

• Day 1 was an individual time trial, 7.5k (4.66 miles) in the skate style. One skier started every 15 seconds with a chip timer. Brynn placed 27th out of 50. I say that mid-pack for a 9th grader is pretty impressive! Anna Leo was on antibiotics and still placed 37th out of 50!
• Day 2 was a 3x 3k (1.86-mile) relay in the classic style. Our two Mayfield-Northville girls were joined by a Queensbury athlete. It was a mass start with chip-timed splits. Our team came in on 10/16.

Our twenty-nine Mayfield-Northville athletes enjoyed another season on the snow! We have one senior graduating this year- Lyra Thomarie (Northville). We took 13 athletes to Lake Placid to compete in the Empire State Winter Games for 4 days, and they brought home 10 medals! Our team raced 6 times (4 races were cancelled due to snow (bussing) and severe temps) at 5 different venues (Lapland, Garnet Hill, Mt. VanHovenburg, Brookhaven, Cole's Woods), plus sectionals at Gore Mt. Nordic Center and states at Bristol Mt. Nordic Center. A special shout-out to Coach Ryan Bornt, who organized us, got us to the snow, and waxed our skis (it's a whole science with some magic and luck tossed in).

MUSIC FCMEA ALL COUNTY MUSIC FESTIVAL - Mrs. McKnight & Mr. Martin

The incredible musical talent of students from across Fulton County. This year’s festival featured performances by the Elementary Choir, Junior High Band, High School Choir, and Jazz Band, bringing together select student musicians for two days of focused rehearsals and artistic collaboration. Each ensemble demonstrated outstanding work that exceeded the musical expectations of their home schools. Students committed to learning more challenging and complex repertoire and met at special times for additional rehearsals, showing remarkable dedication, discipline, and teamwork. Their efforts reflected not only musical growth but also perseverance and a strong sense of responsibility. The festival culminated in a concert on Saturday, January 31, at 3:00 p.m. in the Gloversville Middle School auditorium. The performance was a celebration of the hard work and growth achieved over the course of the festival and highlighted the high level of musicianship present throughout the county. Fulton County music teachers are extremely proud of the select musicians who represented their schools so excellently. Events like the All-County Music Festival continue to demonstrate the strength of our music programs and the incredible potential of our students when given opportunities to learn, collaborate, and perform at the highest level.

ADIRONDACK THUNDER ICE HOCKEY HAME ~ Mrs. McKnight

Members of the HS Falcon Choir did a phenomenal job singing the National Anthem at last night's Adirondack Thunder ice hockey game. Check out the pics, video, and smiles.

FOUNDER'S DAY - Rescheduling for 2026-27

All, many of the individuals we reached out to to present at our Founders' Day dinner are still away for the winter! We are going to revisit this event for the 2026-27 school year to get it on the calendar either earlier or later in the school year. April and May are already booked with events this year.

TELHEALTH SERVICES ~ MRS. RENNER

NCS will offer telehealth services to students and staff through Albany Medical Center for the 2025-26 school year. We are excited and hopeful that this partnership will help alleviate some of the stress that often arises when a child needs medical care. Not only will our students have this service available during the school day, but it can also be used at home by anyone, including adults! 

Please see the informational flyer and pre-registration form. A QR code is also included on the flyer and below if you wish to complete online registration. We strongly urge pre-registration to expedite care, but please be assured that your child will never be seen by a telehealth provider without your consent (every time). The Albany Med team will be at Open House on 09/16 at 6:30pm to offer insight and assist with registration. We hope many of our students take advantage of this excellent service!

Mrs. Fitzgerald posts to Northville CSD Parent Square daily to inform us about the numerous events that make our school and extended community such vibrant, welcoming spaces.
