LETTER ARCHIVE

January 2026

Dear Friends

Birds of Prey
I am sitting in my living room, the pellet stove is blazing, my husband, Steve, is reading, and I'm putting the finishing touches on this month's newsletter. Outside, January is bringing us frigid weather, the kind of cold that makes you grateful for warm socks, I wear two pairs, and a good cup of coffee. It may be below freezing outside, but working on my newsletter warms my heart and reminds me just how fortunate we are to live and work together in our community.

There's something about this time of year that invites reflection. The holiday rush is over, and the new year is already a month old. I find myself settling into the rhythm of winter. In moments like these, I'm reminded that what makes Northville special isn't just the place itself, but the people who choose to be here, building something meaningful together. I feel blessed to be one of those people.

Bundle up, savor the warmth of family and friends,

Dr. C.

THANK YOU, STEWARTS SHOPS OF NORTHVILLE

Students wrote thank-you letters & cards to send to the Stewart's organization. They generously paid for the Birds of Prey Assembly with money from our community. We appreciate the holiday match program! Stewart's Shops sponsors wildlife conservation and education events in New York, including initiatives featuring birds of prey. We are grateful for their contribution to this informative and exciting presentation held at Northville this month.

Ms. Karpoy's Class sharing their thank you letters!

MS. LAZINSKI ~ JANUARY PODCAST

I am excited to host our high school chemistry teacher, Ms. Lazinski, for our January Falcon podcast. Ms. Lazinski had the opportunity to participate in a research experience for teachers (RET) program at Penn State University over the last 3 summers. She worked in a research lab for 6 weeks with a graduate student on their research project.

AIDEN TEACHES DR. CHAUNCEY ABOUT GRAVITY

You will be amazed at our 3rd-grade student, Aiden's explanation of gravity! I was so impressed with Aiden's science notebook. I plan to make another video where he'll take us on a tour of how he uses it to document his learning.

SOARING TOGETHER & FALCON FORCE

Recognitions: Chief Richardson, Soaring Together Award & Brian Doyle, Falcon Force Award

The Soaring Together Award honors guardians and community members who help lift our Falcon family by contributing their time, talents, and support. Chief Richardson is consistently accessible, maintains a regular school presence, and plays an integral role in emergency drill planning and implementation, including bringing together law enforcement and emergency response partners to refine the emergency response plan. He also coaches Northville's Boys' Baseball Team!

The Falcon Force Award celebrates an NCS staff member who goes above and beyond to make a positive impact on students, staff, or the school community. Brian Doyle, our daytime custodian supervisor, is hardworking, efficient, dependable, and friendly, ensuring the school runs smoothly, repairing equipment, making the grounds safe after snowstorms, and taking the lead on projects.

ICE SKATING RINK INSTALLATION

Thank you, Village of Northville, for installing the ice skating rink, and thank you to our facilities staff for helping to maintain it! The skating rink is available for public use after school hours (2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday) and on the weekends. Please respect the “Rink Closed” sign whenever it is posted. There will be times the school and/or village crews need to clear snow or perform other maintenance. And thank you to Ms. Fitzgerald and Ms. Luckert for capturing pictures and video!

TELHEALTH SERVICES ~ MS. RENNER

NCS will offer telehealth services to students and staff through Albany Medical Center for the 2025-26 school year. We are excited and hopeful that this partnership will help alleviate some of the stress that often arises when a child needs medical care. Not only will our students have this service available during the school day, but it can also be used at home by anyone, including adults!

Please see the informational flyer and pre-registration form. A QR code is also included on the flyer and below if you wish to complete online registration. We strongly urge pre-registration to expedite care, but please be assured that your child will never be seen by a telehealth provider without your consent (every time). The Albany Med team will be at Open House on 09/16 at 6:30pm to offer insight and assist with registration. We hope many of our students take advantage of this excellent service!

Ms. Fitzgerald posts to Northville CSD Parent Square daily to inform us about the numerous events that make our school and extended community such vibrant, welcoming spaces. Her efforts are essential to maintaining our strong sense of community. Also, be sure to check out our Facebook and Instagram pages.

We're always eager to support organizations contributing to our community's well-being. If you're involved with a community event you'd like us to promote, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're happy to help spread the word.

If you would like to meet with me in person or virtually, just email or call to schedule a time during the school day or after your workday.
