Welcome to the October edition of my monthly newsletter. I am excited to share the latest updates from our school community. This month, we have two videos featuring our second-grade students. You can watch them work with their teachers and community volunteers to make apple crisp and homemade apple sauce. Their excitement is evident, and these videos showcase the engaging, hands-on learning that occurs every day at every grade level. Apples are a big part of the season. They represent the harvest and the joy of coming together. They're a healthy snack, and the varied options to use them in cooking and baking bring comfort to our homes and classrooms. We hope you enjoy these apple-themed highlights.
Our mystery reader program, sponsored by our third-grade teachers, is also featured. We love having parents and guardians join in these exceptional learning opportunities. We also share our new recording studio, built on a shoestring with donations, in a space that has taken on a new purpose!
You'll also meet our first Falcon Force and Soaring Together award nominees. Thank you to those who took the time to honor your colleagues with thoughtful, heartfelt letters.

WELCOME, SARADA (Sass) JUNQUERA, NORTHVILLE BOED MEMBER
Sarada (Sass) Junquera joins the Northville Central School District Board of Education with over 13 years of accounting and auditing experience and a deep personal connection to the community. She brings a strong background in financial management and nonprofit oversight, including several years of experience conducting school district audits (including for Northville CSD). A committed community member and proud district homeowner, Sass and her husband are raising three young children, two of whom currently attend Northville Central School. She is honored to serve on the Board of Education and is dedicated to supporting the continued success of the district and its students.

OUR NEW MULTIMEDIA RECORDING STUDIO
With donated equipment and a quiet space that now serves as both our recording studio and file storage space, we are ready to create presentations that incorporate audio and video. While wandering around the building in search of a quiet space to produce recordings, I realized that the file room might be a suitable option. The boxes of files make perfect soundproofing, and moving the shelving back a few feet provided the room we needed for our green screen. We will also be recording podcasts with our staff, community members, and students as guests!
This is one of our first videos -- we did not have the green screen in place yet. However, the students did a great job sharing the process they used to write personal narratives in Ms. Williams' class. We are also sharing recordings of a few of their personal narratives below.

Finding Nemo KIDS is a 30-minute musical for young performers based on Pixar’s film, following timid clownfish Marlin as he searches the ocean for his son, Nemo, after the boy is captured and taken to Sydney. Along the way, Marlin teams up with unforgettable sea creatures, learns to trust, and discovers courage, while Nemo finds his own independence and resilience. It’s a family-centric story about bravery, friendship, and believing in yourself.
Congratulations to the Boys' Varsity Soccer team, who received the #1 seed in the Section 2 Class D Tournament. Congratulations to the Girls' Varsity Soccer team, who received the #2 seed in the Section 2 Class D Tournament. Thanks to the staff and students who put on an amazing feed for the community for the Pink-Out and tournament. The food prepared by our staff was delicious.
Music classes and ensembles are more important than ever in today’s world. Playing and singing together teach students how to listen, cooperate, and rely on one another, skills that translate directly to teamwork in school and beyond. Performing in a group also builds confidence, as each musician learns that their contribution matters to the whole. Through rehearsals and performances, students experience the rewards of dedication and shared goals, fostering empathy and respect. In an era where connection and collaboration are essential, music education offers a powerful means of bringing people together while fostering creativity and resilience. This is one of the reasons the NCS Music Department dedicates time to helping its music students learn to build such connections.
MS Band and Choir students team building and learning to work together to build confidence at Bolton Landing's Adirondack Extreme High Ropes Courses. We also have students experience escape rooms, perform for senior residents, and carol and sing in other venues. This also helps build confidence and aids students in learning to work with others. We are also exploring the possibility of visiting other local schools/colleges to promote teamwork.
FALCON FORCE AWARD
The Falcon Force Award celebrates a district employee who goes above and beyond to make a positive impact on students, staff, or the school community. Whether it's a moment of kindness, an act of leadership, a creative idea, or simply showing up and lifting others — we want to hear about it. Nominate any employee — classroom aides, maintenance staff, office staff, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, groundskeepers, counselors, or teachers — who deserves to be recognized for making our district a better place. One staff member will be recognized each month.
SOARING TOGETHER AWARD
The Soaring Together Award honors guardians and community members who help lift our Falcon family by contributing their time, talents, and support. Whether volunteering, mentoring, fundraising, or simply being a reliable partner or business, these champions help us soar higher every day. Staff members, please nominate guardians or community members who have made a meaningful impact this month. Together, we’re stronger — thank you for helping us recognize those who make our school community thrive!
NORTHVILLE CSD FOOD DRIVES
Our first food distribution drive took place on October 21. Assistant Principal, Ms. Dickinson, shared, “It was a wonderful food drive where we served over 270 families. We had so many students involved. We also allow students to create their own boxes. If you hear of a family who could benefit from this program, please let us know!” The Backpack Program, sponsored by the Northville Rotary, is an ongoing support to our community.

WE ARE HIRING!
TELHEALTH SERVICES ~ MS. RENNER
NCS will offer telehealth services to students and staff through Albany Medical Center for the 2025-26 school year. We are excited and hopeful that this partnership will help alleviate some of the stress that often arises when a child needs medical care. Not only will our students have this service available during the school day, but it can also be utilized at home by anyone, adults included!
Please see the informational flyer and pre-registration form. A QR code is also included on the flyer and below if you wish to complete online registration. We strongly urge pre-registration so that care can be expedited, but please be assured that your child will never be seen by a telehealth provider without obtaining your consent first (every time). The Albany Med team will be at Open House on 09/16 at 6:30pm to offer insight and assist with registration. We hope many of our students take advantage of this excellent service!
Ms. Fitzgerald posts to Northville CSD Parent Square daily to inform us about the numerous events that make our school and extended community such vibrant, welcoming spaces.
